The term 1488 (also 14/88) has very little to do with Hitler per se.
14 refers one of two 14-word slogans: "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White Children" or "Because the beauty of the White Aryan women must not perish from the earth"
The first slogan was inspired by an 88-word statement (one explanantion for '88' in 1488') from Volume 1, Chapter 8 of Mein Kampf, a rambling semi-autobiographical book written by Adolf Hitler whilst he was incarcerated in Landsberg prison, after being convicted of high treason.
Another explanation is that '88' refers to 'Heil Hitler' (H being the eighth letter of the alphabet).
A third explanation is that '88' refers to Lane's 88 Precepts, written by Lane as a "guide for securing, protecting, preserving and establishing a white society" whilst he was serving a 190-year prison sentence for racketeering (20 years), conspiracy (20 years) and violating the civil rights of Alan Berg (150 years), in the Federal Correctional Complex at Terre Haute, Indiana.
