G2 refers literally to Division Level or higher military intelligence. S2 Refers to a 'Company' level intelligence. G2 denotes a broader or higher level of information.

Used in slang the best definition is: 'Higher Intelligence or Higher Level information about a topic than is commonly known. It particularly denotes information that is not readily available either through common information channels nor intuitive reasoning.

Specific literal Example: Our S2 reports that we need to move to this area so that we can provide flank support for Alpha company. (The G2 is that this position is critical because Alpha company must get the enemy out of their position NOW before enemy reinforcement elements arrive.)

Example of usage in military slang:

"I'm going to Ranger School, can you give me some G-2?"

Answer: "Yes, before you get there memorize every aspect of the operations order, be able to recite every paragraph and sub-paragraph from memory. While you are at it you might as well learn the operations order in the context of squad and platoon level operations so you know how to conduct each of the main missions in FM7-8. If you really want to G2 the course, make up some laminated copies of each type Opord with blanks that you can use to quickly write details like grid coordinates and signal information in with a sharpie (fine point) or at worst case scenario with a grease pencil...oh yea, and take care of your feet."

Example in civillian usage:

"My owners manual says to program my remote I have to start by putting the key in the ignition 6 times. However, the Pop-A-Lock guy gave me the G2...you just push and pull the key in and out of the ignition steadily until the immobilizer light on the dash illuminates. It worked like a charm."

This is my favorite term...as you can probably tell (thats some G2 for you).

The Interphases of Mitosis and of Meiosis are similar having the same results. DNA synthesis & formation of various enzymes takes place during both interphases as double chromosomes compare to parent are required for two daughter cells in Mitosis and for four daughter cells in meiosis. In case of meiosis interphase takes place before meiosis I showing all the phases like G1, S & G2 as in Mitosis but Meiosis II does not require DNA synthesis so interphase is there for protein synthesis only. So G2 phase is not absent in meiosis.

When the DNA synthesis occurs?

There are five stages of the cell cycle. G1 -the first three S -are all part of G2 -Interphase M <--- this is mitosis C -Cytokinesis between interphase (g1, s, g2) and cytokinesis

In the g1 and g2 parts of interphase the cell is?

In the G1 and G2 parts of interphase, the cell is not dividing.

What occurs in the G2 phase of cellular division?

During this final activity of the interphase, the cell duplicates its centriole in preparation for mitosis. The "g2 checkpoint" verifies that the DNA does not need repair.

Part of interphase is?

G2 phase -

When does chromosomal replication occur?

It occurs in the nucleus of a cell

What part of the cell cycle occurs before mitosis can begin?

Interphase is the part of the cell cycle that occurs before mitosis can begin. Interphase is made up of the G1, S, and G2 phases. These phases of Interphase prepare the to-be-diving cell by increasing the cell size and synthesizing the DNA within that cell.

Is G1 phase part of the interphase?

G1 is part of the interphase. The cell cycle is: mitosis, G1, S (synthesis), G2 and finally mitosis again. G1, S and G2 are all part of the interphase.

What are the characteristic activities of interphase?

In plant or animal cells, during interphase, the nucleus is not undergoing division. The nucleus will be visible and the nuclear membrane will also be visible.

What event occurs during late interphase in preparation for mitosis?

Gap 2 (G2) - the cell will prepare for cell division during G2 by making the organelles needed for cell division, it will replicate all of the organelles.

What is a part of the interphase?

S Phase

When do cell organelles multiply?

G2 (gap2) of interphase.

What is the final and shortest phase and interphase?

G2 phase
