It is a Scottish name written MacCarmaig in Gaelic. 'The son of Cormac' is the meaning in the first instance, although 'cormac' as well as being a personal name also means 'charioteer'.
In Irish McCormick is "Mac Cormaic". It means "Son of Cormac"
