Symbolism of a Black Widow Tattoo
Here are opinions and answers from FAQ Farmers on the meaning of black widow tattoos:
- A black widow tattoo doesn't really have a set meaning. It's not a prison tattoo, nor is it discriminatory.
- It can represent the female aspect as the female tattoo is renowned for eating the male after mating.
- A black widow tattoo symbolizes independence - the arch angel of vengeance. She will always be alone, because she can never truly love (after they mate, they kill their mate); a symbol of dark twisted love.
- No matter how strong a man could be, there will always be a woman that will destroy him or a black widow. I already have a black widow tattoo on my arm and in a way I feel it kind of protects me from harm.
- Black widows don't always kill their mate, just sometimes.
- I'd say that the black widow tat represents the lethal, dark side of love. Once she is done mating, the black widow devours her mate. It's Mother Nature's way of saying that the only thing a male is good for is siring offspring!
- I was looking for black widow tattoo pictures. I want a black widow on my neck. The only meaning it will have for me is, I was bitten on the neck by a black widow when I was 10. It bit directly into my lymphnode gland and it basically paralyzed my neck. The emergency room doctors finally found out what was wrong after a few hours of blood work. They gave me anti-serum and told my mom if I were bitten anywhere else I would've died. I was asleep when it happened. So, I want a black widow tat right where I was bitten, to remind me of how lucky I am and that what doesn't kill you only makes you a stronger person. I know it's an old saying, but I believe in it strongly.
- they say a black widow picks her mate carefully, they pick which males will make strong offspring (which you cant deny MANY females do...) she will then kill her mate because she wants the strongest offspring, so she kills so he cannot mate again. could it possibly represent jealousy in a tattoo ? or a sort of maternal love ? .......................to me its always symbolized the death of love. my tattoo is a soul-less skull ripping a live heart in two with its teeth, and black widows are emerging from the tear in the heart, i suppose its each to his own thought, but i like to see how others think of it...
