What does a blue bird tattoo symbolize? |
[Edit] |
Answer
I have a bluebird tattoo. One that stands on the ground (which is me) and one that is flying away (which is my great grandmother who had passes away) So to me it means that Im still here on earth and she has taken flight to a better place.
Answer
Sailors tattooed themselves with blubirds, traditionally on each of their shoulders, when they crossed the equator in a ship.
Answer
Sailors got a blue bird on one side of their chest after they traveled 5,000 miles at sea, then one on the opposite side when they traveled 10,000 miles.
(responding to the answer above me)
Actually, from everything I've read it was a sparrow they would get as a tattoo after every 5,000 miles, not a blue bird.
