The sound of a Bobcat is like hearing the screaeming cries of a child being terribly hurt or tortured, in fact, you will not believe it is an animal when you hear it , and will think for certain it is a child in pain. We lived near a huge swamp on a farm, and would be wakened at times by their blood curdling mournful high pitched cries.
A bob cat sound like a whining baby. I Heard one one time.

Mountain lions communicate by roaring, growling, purring, snarling, and whimpering.

Mountain lions like to have very much space. If another creature (except for prey or what they eat) comes near their land the mountain lion will growl or snarl at the intruder. If that doesn't work the mountain lion will pounce upon the unfortunate animal and go for the kill (even if the animal is larger than the mountain lion).

Mountain lions do not roar as to the big cats. Instead, they scream. Listen to this video.
