However, if you want to try and see if you can fix the problem on your own (considering the ailment won't be life threatening) then you can try drinking 8 glasses of water a day and having more fiber by eating more fruit with skin and vegetables. Although, having a powder substitute which mixes with water works very well too.
Also get more exercise and don't sit in the same position for more than an hour.
If irritation of the anus is a problem, then I suggest using very soft toilet paper and adding aloe when wiping. Also, to get the swelling down a little, ice wrapped in thin underwear and placed on the anus will shrink that thing down.
