Next, the PROPER answer to the posed question: The fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor or inline fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor is used to measure the fuel tank pressure during the EVAP monitor test on vehicles equipped with the Running Loss-type (returnless style) system. Also, when the PCM receives a signal that there is excessive fuel tank pressure, it will force the system to purge.
