What does a heater coil do and how hard is it to replace and does it affect driveability?

[Edit]

Answer

It transfers engine heat to the interior of the car by means of a series of coils, which engine coolant flows through. This heats the coils and air is drawn over the coils by the blower motor. They are easy to replace but hard to access. Located deep within the dash on passenger side, next to firewall. The heater core has no effect on drive-ability, unless it is leaking, and then the leak might cause the engine to overheat.

Answer

If you do have a leak, you can always bypass the heater coil by using a reducing coupling. This will allow your coolant to stay in circulation while not spilling into your passenger side floorboard.

Answer

You have to take the dash out of the 90 model mustangs!
