Medical Science Liaisons work in an advocacy role to support the commercial development of medical therapies and pharmaceutical drug products to key physician customers. They are responsible for participating in clinical studies; establishing strong relationships with their target customers such as clinicians and key medical leaders; answering clinical inquiries; and participating in medical education and the provission of product-specific scientific information to customers. MSLs work on behalf of pharmacuetical or biotechnology companies who generally require an undergraduate degree in the field of applied science, advanced scientific training and 2-5 years of clinical experience. Their salary is usually in the 6-figure range and some are allowed to work from a home-based office. (author Rosie StJulian)
