He or she records life, and their surroundings, and events so that they can be remembered in pictures. A photographer is a creative person who uses light as his brush to realize his vision of the scene to finally display it preferably on print (or alternative visual media). The appreciation from intended audience (about which he may be aware only subconsciously) is his/her reward / motivation.
