What does a web site cost? |
[Edit] |
Websites require a place to store the web pages for people to see them. They cant just be stored on your own computer usually since your IP will change and most likely do not have the programs running to allow it. This means you'll need a host. Hosts can cost anywhere from free to $100 or even more if you want a dedicated host. My hosting fee is around $15 per month and have never had any trouble with quality.
Your next cost will be building the website. This is again depend alot on what all you are needing. For a basic website with information and links you can usually have one built for $100-$300 one time fee. Some web designers will also charge for special graphics and other features.
You will also need a domain name. There are ways to have a free site without your own domain name, with packages from yahoo or others that will have your address such as geocities.com/yourname . How ever for your own domain name the prices are about $10 a year.
If you are wanting to bring in customers from the internet you will need to advertise. This can cost as little or as much as you would like to spend. Some companies will do all the work in finding out what advertising will result with the most hits for your website.
You can either split all these up with different companies or find the one that is right for you that can help you with all your needs.
