It was long hypothesized that zebra stripes made it hard forlions to tell where one zebra started and the next ended. However,that hypothesis has been proven false. Zebras do not have stripesfor camouflage. The stripes confuse and deter biting flies, whichis important for zebras because they do not have long enough fur toprotect them from biting flies. (MORE)
