Americocentric, or Americo-centric is the idea that the USA is the centre of the universe.
It relates to a person who is completely unaware or unsympathetic to anyone living outside of the states.
An americocentric person tends to look down on cultures which do not mesh with their own and are unwilling to learn about them. When a word is spelled differently to how they would spell it they will lash out and attack the person who spelled it that way by telling them they are wrong.
The internet is Americocentric as the currency is the American dollar, the time is American and most English language websites are American based in order to relate to the largest population of English speakers on the web. This does not however mean the largest amount of internet users are American, and this can lead to alienation.
