What does an Achilles' heel mean? |
[Edit] |
The expression "Achilles' heel" refers to that problem or dilemna - that factor that always seems to get in the way of solving a problem or finding success. For example, ice cream can be many dieters' Achilles' heel. John Kerry's liberal voting record and "Ivy League" speaking style is arguably the Achilees' heel of his presidential aspirations. A lack of confidence is Charlie Brown's Achilles' heel. Unjustified confidence and self-assuredness has been George W. Bush's Achilles' heel.
