Bore is the size of the pistons. Stroke is each time the piston moves e.g. the piston moving up is 1 stroke then down is another stroke. there are both 2 and 4 stroke engines, a 2 stroke engine 'fires' once every revolution and a 4 stroke engine 'fires' every 2 revolutions. Hope that explains it!

The answer is not fully correct. Bore is indeed the size, meaning the "diameter" of the pistons, and the strokeis actually the "depth" of the piston from top to bottom. In other words, it is the distance that the pistons undergo in one stroke ( as explained above ). for example, in service manuals you will find : Bore and Stroke - 74 X 58 mm that is : Bore = 74mm & Stroke = 58mm . :) Ophir BYv :)
