the above is only the begining of domestication. only after a wild animal is kept and tamed for several generations which result is a significant genetic change is it domesticated. if you were to find a wolf pup you can keep it as a pet for it's whole life it may be tamed but it isnt domesticated only many generations later will you get a domesticated wolf which will be very similar to a dog. in several areas of the world elephants are kept as beasts of burden or in zoos but no matter how tamed or friendly they behave they are still wild animals and not domesticated.
