The noun form of "focus" means the center of attention or observation. In geometry, the focus is one of a pair of points (foci) for a specific conic section.

To focus (from optics) is to center on, or to concentrate on, an object or subject. Light rays originating from a specific souce can be converged around a point (the focus) by lenses or mirrors.

The verb "to focus" (on) means to observe closely, or to narrow to a specific view (e.g. "to focus on the cost")

In seismology the word focus is sometimes used as a synonym for the hypocentre of an earthquake.

Focus in Photography means this:

Focus in photography depends on the type of camera, and lens you use. For example, if you have a film camera, you have to stick with the focus that is provided, but when you have an SLR camera, you can change the focus on the camera it self, or you can get different lenses and focus the image being taken more easily.
