Force is the one which changes the state of rest. Or it may change a uniform motion. Even it may tend to produce such changes.

Example:

1. Weight of the book kept on a table acting downward

Book remains at rest yet force is acting downward which is balanced by the reaction due to elastic nature of the wooden plank of the table.

2. Just a motor bike moves right from resting position

3. Speeding up a vehicle already moving or slowing down a bike by applying brake.

A force is a push or a pull. An example would be if you forced or pushed your brother or sister into a pool.
