... As a metaphor, Zombie stories work quite well in the dreams of anyone who feels forced to do or be something against their will. For example, a teenager's dream might portray all adults (teachers, parents, authorities) as zombies. "Eating brains" is a good metaphor for education, since, after all, the purpose of school is to train kids to think and behave as adults, i.e., more zombies. These dreams often place the zombie attacks in school buildings or at school events.
