I don't think it means anything, Usually a whitish or clear discharge means that you are going through ovulation. Remember you can get pregnant before or right after ovulation. I believe you can have whitish (sometimes lotiony) discharge for a day or two a few days after ovulation because of estrogen surges. I just bought the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler---it's got a great explanation of what happens during your cycle and how to predict your fertility, whether you're trying to conceive or want to guard against getting pregnant.
It could mean that your vagina is cleansing right before your next period is due. I experienced the same thing a day after sex, and then i had a regular period. It could also mean that you're not ovulating. Ovulating is when the mucus is clear, slippery and very stretchable.
It is called spinbarkeit. It is cervical mucus that is most welcoming to sperm while you are ovulating, helping you become pregnant.
Early in pregnancy, you'll probably experience a thin, milky white discharge. Called "leucorrhoea," this substance will increase during pregnancy and is completely normal.
The clear discharge is a sign ovulation is near within the next day or two, a white discharge is a sign ovulation has passed. Don't get yourself stressed from the other answer above, discharge is NOT a sign of not ovulating and is not cleaning out you vagina for your next period. That is why we have periods is to clean everything out.

∙ 11y agoI don't know much about ovulation timing - it just tends to happen when it want to - but I do know that a discharge similar in appearance and texture to egg whites is considered completely normal.

∙ 12y agoA discharge often happens before a period, but if this discharge was white thick and you have an itch you could have a yeast infection. To clear that up you can buy an over the counter cream to help you. A period is not like a train that it always arrives exactly on the day it is suppose to so remember that. The time of 5 days is within normal range and if you have just started having a period it may take your body six months to year to have a regular cycle.
