heartworms are a very likely cause. my dog is going through this RIGHT NOW!!! :( it is very very serious so get your dog to the vet now. if you have reason to believe it has lost too much blood check its gums. they should be the color of bubble gum, bright pink. if you press on theyre gums it should go white, but return to color in 1-3 seconds.
it could have also swallowed something sharp like pine cones, or sticks, even rawhide bones, if they swallow to large of a piece. the best thing to do is to get them to a vet so they can look the pup over and run some tests to make sure its not something more serious. good luck and i hope all turns out ok!
Does the dog eat alot of bones? If so then he probably has a torn stomach/ throat.
There is no happy reason this would happen, and I don't want to guess at the myriad causes, all grim. Get this dog to a vet this very instant. Bleeiding out happens FAST.
There could be many reasons why a dog is puking. The dog may have an upset stomach, parvo, or any number of ailments. A vet will be able to diagnose the dogs sickness.
He would probably being dying of some serious disease and you would need to send him to the vet right away.
I think it means that its sick, has a problem, or if its a girl it could be pregnant

If you can't go to the vet, call your vet. Coughing up blood can be fatal.
Gingersnap cookies can be fed to your dog to help her stomach. Also if you put her on a diet of white rice and boiled chicken, she might not puke as much because of the blandness. Cottage cheese can be substituted for the chicken.
A burly person might be matched up with a large dog.
my ex had stomach ulcers. he can't drink vodka or anything really strong like that or he'd start puking up blood.

The dog might just throw up.
It depends on what kind of dog you have in your house. If the dog that you keep is lonely, the dog might rip up furniture and such because it is looking for a friend. If your dog is solitary, the dog might sit at home, quietly.
My dog has always eaten alot of grass, sometimes she throws up but most of the time she doesn't when she has eaten grass. Last night after she had eaten grass she threw up and it had traces of blood in it. Should I be alarmed?
