My suggestion if this is happening is to go see your doc. It could be many different things. I have S.V.T. SUPRA VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA and my heart skips a few beats at a time and is caused by a hole that goes almost to the noid (?) and when the heart pumps blood it has to fill that up first and the top half of my heart is wanting to pump the blood back and there's nothing for it to pump yet. But go to the doc to get real help A.S.A.P

There are many reasons for skipped heart beats and many kinds of skipped heart beats. Some of them don't mean anything, and some of them mean you should get to your doctor soon, and some of them mean you need to call 911.

How do you know the difference? If your heart is skipping beats just here and there and not all the time, and it doesn't cause you pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, pressure in or on the chest or clammy sweating then you can call your doctor's office to make an appointment to have it checked out. Maybe you're having a lot of stress, or drank too much caffeine?

However, there are other kinds of skipped beats that can cause the heart to do several things, one of which is go into a fatal rhythm and then stop. So if you are having the above mentioned symptoms with the skipped beats, you should call 911 especially if you have chest pain or pressure and/or dizziness and sweating with the skipped beats.

Whatever the case, your heart needs to be evaluated by a doctor.
