As soon as I notice a different smell in the pool, it helps to add a focculant to the skimmer and after 24 -36 hours backwash the filter. Shocking the pool at this time should control the odor.

It can mean a lot of things. My advice to you is not to read the thing you can find on the internet because it's just going to scare you. Find a gynaecologist, if you don't have one, or go to your gynaecologist, if you do have one, than you will know for sure. Everything else is just guessing!!!
