i just bought a red 92 metro with that problem too. we took a compression check of cylinders and found 2 that were gone, took head off and found #1&3 exhaust valve burned through and damaged. i replaced all 3 exhaust valved and regrounded all the valves in place. it runs fine. check your compression first, if good get back to me.

theres a very good chance that the engine has a blown head gasket. what is happening is the water cooling the engine is escaping past the head gasket & into the engine, mixing with the oil making it milky coloured. the water is also escaping into the cylinders, making the steam come from your exhaust, you may also have trouble when turning the engine over, with water building up in the cylinders when cooling down.

It could be the supercharger snout itselft. I just replaced mine because it was making a sort of knocking noise. I started out just hearing it at start up and turning it off. Mine runs like a champ now along with a smaller pulley and an exhaust job.
