Everyone I'm sure, has their own side to this. I see it as a sense of control for him. Knowing that he can have you when he needs you, so to speak. He likes that feeling of someone wanting him and he always gets it. It also can show a sense of insecurity as well. This can tend to happen, I would guess, in the younger age bracket but it also happens down the road too. Depending on the circumstances of the "break-up" it could mean a lot of things really. I (personally) would weigh your options and don't let it confuse you anymore than you are.
