On the other hand, your kidneys rest towards the back of your body, and nestle just under your rib cage. Back pain that is throbbing and persistent may be caused by kidney troubles (stones, infection, etc.) and should be brought to the attention of your GP (doctor) at your earliest convenience. Kidney/bladder infections can turn serious if not attended to, and are often solved easily by an over the counter antibiotic and pain killer like Uzo.
