My 2003 Ford Escape XLS battery light has been on for 6 months. I went to autozone last Wednesday and they said my battery was bad. I got it replaced yesterday. Battery light still on. So tonight after I read another forum, hey said it was the radiator overflow reservoir. I figured it would be worth checking. My reservoir was about 1/2 inch below the full line. I filled it about 1/4 inch above the full line.....lo and behold, the battery light went off when I started the car. How freakin stupid. Also, bought my Escape in '04 and the Airbag light came on. Took it to Ford, they said it was the seat tensioner. They fixed it ($169). Came back on 3 months later. They fixed it again (this time they covered it). Has not come on in 5 years. Probably was just the connectors and wires under the passengers seat that get messed up when the seat is moved like other forums have said, and Ford is just retards.
There is problem with the charging system.
Have the output of your alternator checked,it should put out 14.5 volt. Also check the battery connection to virify that they are clean.
It means there is a problem with the charging system. Normally this means the alternator has failed.
Your 2004 Chevrolet trail blazer and battery light indicator is always on because the battery has sufficient charge.
It is very easy to change the battery in a 2004 Ford Escape. You will need to remove the bar that is covering the battery first. Then you will just need to take the battery terminals off the battery and then remove the old battery. Put the new battery in and put the terminals back on in the correct order. Then put the bar back over the battery and it is ready to go.
There is no reset for the light. The light is on because you have a problem with the charging system. Once the problem is corrected the light will go out. Normally the light comes on when the alternator stops functioning.
The yellow fuel dispenser warning light indicates low fuel. The red battery indicator light indicates the charging system is malfunctioning. The red high water level indicator light indicates the cooling system is overheating.
Battery is not charging due to defective alternator or the battery itself needs to be replace.
It means your engine needs attention.
1. Alternator charging system malfunction.. [not charging enough]
