Maybe nothing; all parts of your body shed old skin all the time, and it may become more noticeable if you are working hard and sweating; especially if you're building up a layer of callused skin that becomes moist and peels away when your skin dries. There are a couple of infections that commonly cause the hands to peel. One is called hand, foot and mouth disease and it is caused by a common virus that is generally not dangerous except to pregnant moms and newborns. The other is strep A - the bacteria that causes strep throat. When untreated, it can spread through other parts of the body and can cause peeling of the hands and feet as well. If you've recently had a hgh fever with sore throat and now you're peeling on your hands and/or feet, it wouldn't hurt to have a visit to your doctor to rule out a strep infection, as it is possible to develop what they called rheumatic fever, which can cause long term damage to your heart. If you are pregnant and about due, let your OB know about the symptom; he can check for strep and for the virus and help to keep you and baby healthy!

I had the same problem. I'm 15 now and my hands are fine. it just means you have really dry skin. They have cream at wal-mart that will fix it. Just Put a LOT on before you go to sleep everynight and it'll go away. I haven't had to put anything on for a few months now. Just make sure you use a lot of lotion and don't like run your hands on walls or whatever. that causes the skin to get cut up and once it's peeling it's easier for it to keep going.
