Starter solenoid hooked up reversed or poor ground, low battery or corroded connections @ battery
Another Answer
It has been my experience that a faulty solenoid or relay will only click once when you try to start the vehicle. A rapid clicking noise would indicate a low battery, poor ground, or corroded connections as stated above.
