HCG levels only rise during pregnancy or if your taking medication that contains HCG. If your levels went down and then up again, this could be for any number of reasons. A strong possibility is you had a miscarriage and conceived again right after, the baby was distressed and HCG levels lowered then went up again or you was carrying twins and miscarried one and the levels went up again because of the remaining baby. You need to see your doctor to find out for definite.

∙ 18y agoDecreasing HCG levels usually means your at risk of losing the baby but the levels always stay down in this case. Levels that go back up again, could be because the baby was sleeping and wasn't moving around much and the HCG levels lowered slightly. But see your doctor to find out for sure. It should be investigated anyway.

∙ 16y agoIn my case it meant an ectopic, tubal, pregnancy. you need to see a doctor ASAP!! in most normal pregnancies, your hcg levels double every few days. so there should never be a drop, then rise. then again, everyone is different, please see a doctor for further testing. (QUICKLY in case of an ectopic, it can rupture, leading to death!!)
