Major Generals are an O-8 pay grade. That means that they are paid between $9683.10 per month, and $13,959.30 per month, depending on cumulative years of service. and are preceded in rank by Brigadier Generals, and our superseded in rank by Lieutenant Generals.
The rank of Major General in the US Army, US Air Force, and US Marine Corps is equivalent to the rank of Rear Admiral in the other services (Navy, Coast Guard, etc.)
