He is disappointed that this has been such a stubborn recession. He wishes the country had made a quicker recovery, but he believes the economy is now improving, and statistics show that unemployment is finally declining. He has submitted a number of ideas for putting people back to work, but gridlock in congress has kept those plans from turning into jobs. He obviously hopes things will be different in the new congress, so that the unemployment rate will fall even more.
