Polytheism is a general term meaning the belief in or worship of more than one god.
Specific forms of polytheism include:-
- Henotheism: devotion to a single god while accepting the existence of other gods.
- Kathenotheism: worship of one God at a time, depending on the locality or the time.
- Monolatry: belief that many gods exist, but these gods can exert their power only on those who worship them. Thus, a monolatrist may believe in the reality of both the Egyptian gods and the God described in the Bible, but sees him or herself as a member of only one of these religions.
- Polydeism: belief that the universe was the collective creation of multiple Gods, each of whom created part of the universe and then ceased to interact with the universe.
