The phrase "Santa Ana winds" is attested in newspapers LONG before "Santana winds" was; Santa Ana is the original version, and "Santana" is a later corruption of the term.Also, "Santana" does not mean "devil" ... in fact it's more or less the opposite. "Santa Ana" means "Saint Anne", and in Spanish vowels which occur together like that are elided, so instead of pronouncing "Santa Ana" as is done in English ...
