Selective permeability relates to the properties of a membrane. It allows the passage of some substances and not others. Theoretically, it can be thought of as a sheet with holes of a set size in it. Only objects that are smaller than these holes will be able to pass through the sheet.

In a proper membrane the 'holes' are usually a type of protein channel that can control permeability by charge as well as size.

Selectively permeable.

Cells have selectively what membranes?

Selectively permeable.

What is definition of selectively permeable?

The selectively permeable phospholipid bilayer (a.k.a plasma membrane) is 'selectively permeable' because it selects which molecules it allows to permeate (pass through).

What is the relationship between cell membrane and selectively permeable?

Cell membranes are indeed selectively permeable.

How is dialysis membrane selectively permeable?

a dialysis membrane is selectively permeable, it is used in experiments to simulate cellular membranes, and it is permeable to water but not to sucrose.

it blocks the passge of most substances

What is a selectively permeable memberane?

A selectively permeable membrane means that it lets some molecules through but others can't get in.

What does it mean for a phospholipid membrane to be selectively permeable?

It only let's some materials pass in and out.

no

What is the basic strcture of a cell membrane?

Cell membrane is elastic and transparent. It can be impermeable, permeable, semi-permeable or selectively permeable. In humans the plasma membrane is selectively permeable that is it allows entry to certain substance.
