AnswerThey are just used to it, they have lived with that smell ever since they were born. It's sort of like when you can't smell your own house, but visiters do.

∙ 13y agoWords alone cannot describe this smell. It's somewhere between the lines of vomit smell and very very strong cat urine. Again it's very hard to describe such a smell. Your best bet is to get sprayed once. After that you'll never mess with a skunk ever again.

∙ 12y agoYes. Skunks HATE the smell of skunk oil. They try their best not to get it on themselves. Or on other skunks. If there is a chance the wind could blow the oil their way, they might decide not to spray at all. And believe me, they could tell if they got it on themselves. A skunks strongest sense is smell.
