Systolic is the blood pressure when the heart is contracting and diastolic is the blood pressure when the heart is relaxing. For example, with a blood pressure reading of 120/80, the number 120 is the systolic pressure in millimeters of Mercury (mmHg) and the number 80 is the diastolic pressure in mmHg. If there is a third number present, it is most likely your heart rate at the time your blood pressure was taken in beats per minute.
