What does the American Cancer Society do?

Its helps people with cancer. Like helping them cope with it, making them comforable, treating the disease ect.

The American Cancer Society is a non profit organization. It raises funds to assist with cancer research. It is among the top 5 non profit organizations in terms of assets and overhead expenses.
Although many websites even government websites list that they directly help financially or by other means directly to cancer patients, this idea is widely false. They do not typically help with rent, food or any other general living expense, nor is there wide gifting of medical supplies or vitamins to cancer patients. They will provide lists of other organizations, and in some larger areas provide transportation to and from cancer treatment, On their own schedule.
Most of the Society's gifting goes to reserach that is NOT in its initial stages. The Society also produces a large amount of literature which is helpful to some.
