It says "God loves a cheerful giver".

The purpose of a tithe is not because God needs your money, it is an act of love in which you give up something precious to yourself to show him that you care for him.

we are not under the law

Answer:

Jesus Himself declared that not one jot or tittle of the Law of God would stop until He came again and wrote it upon each heart. The Law of God is eternal contrary to some popular but misguided teachings. Here is what Christ said:

Matthew 23:23New King James Version (NKJV)

23 "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone.

The New Covenant post-Calvary Christian could not tithe even if he wanted to do so.

1. The Old Covenant, which was supported by tithes, is gone.

2. The Temple which was supported by freewill offerings has been replaced by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

3. The OT priesthood, which one tenth of the tithe (1%) has been replaced by the priesthood of every believer.

4. OT tithes never supported missionaries; that has been replaced.

5. OT tithes were only food from inside Israel; that is gone.

6. OT tithes went to the Levitical cities per Neh 10:37; that is gone.

7. Hebrews 7:18 says that tithes were abolished (compare 7:5, 12).

8. Better giving principles are found in 2 Cor 8 and 9 which have the blessing of the Holy Spirit.

9. Tithing is the sin of witch-craft by adding the law back into grace per Gal 3:1; 1:7-8.

What does Paul say on giving to the church?

Paul didn't teach or preach tithing because tithing was not a part of New Testament Christianity. Tithing was replaced with giving. So Paul and other Christians in the Bible practiced giving. In 2 Corinthians 9:7 Paul encourages the saints to give. He didn't command that they give. All giving was voluntary and based on one's ability to give (2 Corinthians 8:11-14).Your Tithe ExpertTheTithingHoax.com
