What does the Cilia Do? |
[Edit] |
[Edit]
Cilia, in the human body, serve one main purpose: To sweep mucous out of the body. Cilia are a part of the exchange epithelia tissue, located in the lungs, trachea and throat. Mucous is produced by goblet cells to protect us from debris and contaminents we breath in. The contaminents get stuck to the mucous and the mucous is sweeped away by the Cilia.
Smoking, reduces you cilia, thus making it harder for you body to sweep mucous. The lungs cannot be filled with too much mucous, otherwise heavy coughing and other stuff may occure
To the best of my knowledge
