What does the cow's iris look like?

The iris in a cow's eye looks very similar to the iris of a human's eye. This is the colored portion of the eye that forms a ring around the pupil (opening). In most cattle the iris is brown in color, although some cattle may have blue irises.

Iris is roughly the black portion of your eye. The color of the sclera is white. This sclera is continuous with the cornea. This cornea is transparent and can not be seen or known to people in general. At least I was not aware of this cornea before I join the medical college. So it is just like the outer glass of the wrist watch. The iris is like the dial of the wrist watch. There is anterior chamber of the eye between the cornea and the iris. This iris has got different amount and color of the pigment in it. When you see carefully, the iris looks porous. It texture looks beautiful. In the center you can see the pupil. People from tropical countries tend to look darker in color. Their iris is dark in color. It contents more pigment in it. People from temperate climate tend to have less pigment in the skin and iris too. More pigment tend to protect eyes from the bright sunlight. Less pigment in iris has no problem with the less amount of sun light that is there in tropical countries. (Some time during the evolution the blue iris came into existence. So the color of the iris is determined by the genes. No genes are superior or inferior to others. There are just variations.)
