"R" on the inside of jewelry does not mean egistered trademark. In jewelry, you will only see TM for that. Additionally, a registered trademark is a mark of some sorts. Not something blank. It's for a specific symbol, brand name, logo, etc. The specific design of a piece of jewelry can be copywritten, which was first started on jewelry after 1955, and will have a "C" in a circle.
If an "R" is meant to designate a registered trademark, it also must be in a circle.
