Calcium chloride is a IONIC compound, meaning that the calcium donated it's two valence electrons. Chloride only has one available spot left in it's valence shell. Therefor calcium donates one electron to two different chlorines. The result is THREE ions, one calcium ion (which is shown as [Ca]2+ (with NO electrons in the valence shell shown) and two chloride ions, which is shown as 2 [Cl]- (there should be eight dots shown surrounding Cl inside the parenthesis).
There are NO lines drawn between the Ca and Cl, because in a dot structure, a line represents a COVALENT bond (shared electrons). Calcium and chlorine have no shared electrons, so no line representing a covalent bond should be drawn.
The Lewis Dot Structure for CaCl2 is as follows: Cl - Ca - ClBoth Cl's will need a total of 6 dots placed around them and the Ca will need 4.NO HARD RETURNS ALLOWED
The electron-dot structure of sodium atom is 'Na-dot' or 'Na.' One dot is one valence electron.
See this question for how to draw the Lewis Dot structure of any molecule:[http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_draw_Lewis_dot_structuresHow do you draw Lewis dot structures?]
The picture of the lewis dot structure for hydroxide can be found in the link below( look in the RELATED LINKS tab below )qqq
Refer to the related link for an illustration of the formation of sodium chloride using Lewis dot structures.
Lewis dot structures are influenced by octet rule, when the electrons increase or decrease to fit into noble gas. Hence the chemical bonding in Lewis structure change.
The Lewis Dot Structure of Cal2 is l- located on either side of the Ca2+ ion. Each iodide ion will have eight electrons around them.
Lewis structure, electron dot diagram, electron dot structure...
No, not exactly. It is an ionic compound so it would not have a Lewis dot structure. However, the carbonate anion, CO3^2- does have a Lewis dot structure.
What is Lewis Structure for the bicarbonate ion
he did not made it
O:Ag:O
what is the dot diagram for Ce
The Lewis dot structure of elemental (biatomic) oxygen (O) have three of its sides surrounded by valence electrons. The Lewis dot would be 3 of these individual O2 structures: .. .. :O::O: .. ..
The nuclues.
The Lewis dot structure is a diagram to show the bonding between the atoms of a molecule and pairs of electrons that may exist. The Lewis dot structure for chromium is Cr with two dots on top and bottom, and four dots on both sides.
Will this link help you?, it is quite impossible to draw a Lewis dot structure in this simple text editor. See related links.
The difference between the Lewis dot structure and the structural formula is that the formula only shows the bonds that have formed whereas the dot structure shows all the valence electrons, including lone pairs, in that molecule.
