The stapes is the deepest small bone in the ear. Its one of the three commonly known as the hammer (maleus), anvil (incus) and stirups (stapes)

What purpose does the stapes have?
I am not sure what the purpose of the stapes are but i know that they are one of the innermost smaller bones in our body and they are shaped somewhat like a stirrup.

The three bones that make up the inner ear are each no bigger than a grain of rice, and yet, somewhat bizarrely, they serve a crucial role in allowing us to hear.
