What does the tort of palming off involve?

[Edit]

It refers to misrepresenting someone else's goods or services as one's own in business, and is actionable at law. This tort is known as "passing off" in the British Isles and most of the Commonwealth, and as "palming off" in the USA and "unfair competition" elsewhere. There is an international obligation to assure effective protection against such 'fraud' and misrepresentation and unfair competition under Article 10 (Business) of the Paris Convention.
