As used in the Bible, the word "ministry" has several meanings. In addition to a mission of teaching or preaching God's word (Luke 3:23), it can mean any care taken or service done on behalf of another. Providing for urgent needs or preparing food for the hungry are also examples of "ministering." (See Matthew 4:11; 25:44; Mark 15:40, 41.)
