Despite the latest in the news reports, while there is plenty of political comment from its pastor, the church and its congregants are firmly part of the US and not of any other country.
Trinity Church of Christ in Chicago is affiliated with the United Church of Christ denomination in the U.S. Trinity, in the words of the UCC President, John Thomas, is a community of people who share the traditions, spirituality and gifts of Africa in their worship of God. A major tenet is tying faith to social justice and shaping cutting edge theology and service in an ever-changing world.
Intelligent dialogue and a strong independent streak sometimes cause the United Church of Christ (UCC) and its 1.4 million members to be called a "heady and exasperating mix." The UCC denomination was founded in 1957 as the union of several different Christian traditions. The church is a coming together of a pilgrim church, two European churches and a Southern Baptist church. The UCC also affirms the responsibility of the church in each generation and community to make faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God.
Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has attended Trinity for the past 20 years. Its congregational aims are: Adoration, Salvation, Reconciliation, Biblical Education, Cultural Education, Liberation, Restoration, Economic Parity.

The Unification Church believes that Jesus was meant to live and reign over the world, by creating the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, by being married and producing a family from which all secular families would learn and thus become more similar and eventually a part of the heavenly family.
Unfortunately, Jesus died before accomplishing this mission so he maximized the amount of good from his circumstances by providing spiritual salvation to all who sought Him. Another messiah, the second coming of the Lord, must come to provide the remaining salvation-physical salvation, for we still propagate Original Sin, from Adam and Eve's fall (act of illicit sex with the serpent).
This second coming has arrived in the form of Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Throughout the years, he has built his family and laid the foundation for the secular world to receive God's blessings through him, in an effort to build fellow Heavenly families and thus creating the physical Kingdom of Heaven on earth. His aim is not to monopolize power but to enable all to follow his example of becoming Blessed Central Families who can receive direct blessing from God.
To become a Blessed family, one must receive the Blessing-a marriage (or re-affirmation of one's existing marriage dedication) which is sanctified by God through Rev Moon and bring forth children with an appropriate God-centered education, thus creating heavenly families who live according to God's Will.
Unity tries to disguise the fact it is a church, a religious denomination, It is a rather nebulous cluster of beliefs with wide tolerance and little firm doctrine. They preach and practice, Vegetarianism, for example. Also, they deliberately avoid the use of the Christian Cross. One current logo- an updated winged globe, resembles some sort of Airline insignia badge! The older type with a large globe and only stub wings was very close to the trade mark of Worthington Pump Company. It is an ancient Egyptian symbol and is not Christian or even borderline ( like the Ankh which is at least cruciform). so it goes.
The Unity Church is a subset of Christianity, and follows the teachings and examples of Jesus Christ. They differ from many Christian sects in their belief that God is not a being, but rather a spiritual energy.
The term "church" is mainly used within Christianity.
