Urban means characteristics ascribed to cities like: concentration of population, a special type of dense built up environment, density in general, specific lifestyles dedicated to certain parts of cities' populations, a special cultural environment, a typical economy (services, trade, no agriculture...), maybe a lack of natural environment and so on.
