Take B.S. Psychology then major in Guidance Counseling. Or, after taking Psychology, take lincensure examination for Psychology. Then if you pass, take Masterals in Guidance and Counseling.

All states require a license to become a guidance counselor. Most schools will require at least a bachelor's degree, while many will additionally require a master's degree. The types of skills that are often required are people skills and listening skills.

School counselors typically have the minimum of a master's degree is Student Personnel Services. This would take approximately two to three years after completion of The Bachelor's degree (four year program of study).
